A word from Mrs Spranklen
I have been in childcare for approximately 29 years. During this period I obtained CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Pre-School Practice and in September 2010 I achieved my Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies at Middlesex University.
I am a mum with three grown up children.
I started my early years in childcare (1985-1993) as a registered childminder for the London Borough of Enfield providing a safe, secure and stimulating environment for children between the ages of four months and four years. During this period I attended various training courses organised by Social Services.
In 1993 I joined a creche which was attached to a nationwide supermarket to gain more experience in group child care in order to prepare me for working in a school environment. In 1994, I secured a Nursery Nurse position at a pre school setting. My main role was to support the Reception Class teacher and was responsible for planning and producing wall displays and practical activities in the classroom.
In 1997 I joined Cedar Park Nursery, initially as a teacher in the 2-3 year old age group but then took over the pre-school group preparing the 3-4 year olds for that all important move off to school. During my time there I acted as the Nursery SENCO attending many courses, setting up play plans for children requiring extra help and offering support and advice to their parents at regular meetings. I was then promoted to Deputy Manager in 2000.
In 2002 I took up the position of Manager and oversaw extensive alterations to the Nursery and a change in our registration to include babies. Throughout this time I attended numerous courses to further extend my knowledge and experience in childcare.
In 2006 I was offered an exciting opportunity to set up and run our new nursery in Hoddesdon where I stayed until 2011. I received a judgement of outstanding from Ofsted in May 2010. In September 2011, I moved to Hadley Road as Manager.
