BUNNIES – 3 months to 15 months
Our Bunnies provides the utmost high quality care for babies from 3 – 15 months, in this room we provide a warm, safe and stimulating environment by planning to meet every child’s individual needs. Our daily activities include indoor and outdoor activities which involve both sensory and messy play. We understand that leaving your baby in the care of a nursery for the first time can be worrying and upsetting, parents are welcome to ring in to enquire about their babies as frequently as they wish. From the baby care unit we provide you with daily record sheets showing you what your baby has eaten, the number of bottles and nappies, how much sleep and generally what kind of day he / she has had.
TEDDIES – 15 months to 2 years
Our young toddlers develop quickly and in a happy and stimulating environment, learning many new skills on the way. In our Teddies Room, toys and other play materials such as paint, glue, sand and water are used for tactile activities. This is also a very impressionable age and our staff are trained to treat the children in a consistent manner. Social skills develop in the nursery as the children learn to share and take turns, especially at meal times, in a relaxed atmosphere. Interaction with adults and other children promotes language development, to support this process we sing and listen to music and stories.
RED AND GOLD BEARS – 2 to 3 years
Our children at this stage are very active and learning so much about the world around them. As the toddlers gain greater body control they can manipulate smaller objects by fitting them together and pulling them apart and can hold paint brushes, crayons and chalk with greater dexterity. Toilet training is a 3 stage process, with no set age for start or completion as each child develops at his /her own pace. Helped by star charts and our experienced understanding nursery staff, most of our children are toilet trained by the time they leave our toddler group. Language skills are developing quickly, from a few words to full sentences. Our nursery staff spend important time listening to our children, encouraging them to speak in correct sentences and gradually expanding their vocabulary.
GREEN AND PURPLE BEARS – 3 to 4 years
Language skills continue through conversation; explaining, listening to them, singing with them and sharing stories. This helps the children to become articulate and broaden their vocabulary. Children are also starting to understand numbers and recognise their colours and shapes. Regular activities include the sand and water play, painting, book corner, jigsaws, play dough and role play. Other activities include cooking, musical instruments, computer time as well as special projects. Different themes and ideas are introduced to the children such as ‘young and old’ or ‘the seasons’ and activities will be focussed around these themes.
YELLOW AND BLUE BEARS
Our Yellow and Blue Bears cater for children aged up to 5 years. Activities are centred around the children’s interests with the focus being on encouraging the children to interact and further develop their social and personal skills. We plan using the Early Years Foundation Stage and ensure we challenge children with learning experiences such as writing and recognising their name, making a head start with reading and simple number work, while at the same time acquiring social skills. We believe that these attributes prepare our pre-school children for the progression from nursery to school. Our aim is to give our children a well-balanced foundation from which they can then go on to shape the rest of their lives. Our nurseries maintain close relationships with local schools, and can provide information for parents about schools in your area.
