Pre-school for ages 2-5 years
Our program for children between the age of 2 and 5 years old is to enhance and develop social skills by learning to play together, share and take turn’s in activities. We gently guide your child in learning right from wrong. We will work with you (the parents) to develop your child’s behaviours and skills. We ensure that, for example toilet training is done in the right way involving you (the parent) as required.
A variety of stimulating activities are provided throughout the day. As interests and concentration develop we encourage your child to sit and listen. They will enjoy stories, songs, nursery rhymes, moving to music and a wide variety of “messy play” activities. As imagination develops your child will pretend and role play, acting our many different scenarios. The children have opportunities to cook, garden and have access to a computer. We have a special partnership with Click IT which provides a fun and structured way for your child to learn how to use a computer, from Beginner level to Intermediate to Advanced.
The foundation stage
Having learnt a great deal by the time they are three years old, the children continue to work within the foundation stage, to the end of reception class. We help the children develop in all six areas of the curriculum outlined in the foundation stage guidelines. These are Personal Solving Reasoning and Numeracy, Knowledge and Understanding of the World, Physical Development and Creative Development. Plans of each group’s activities are displayed within the nursery for anyone to view.
Your child’s progress is monitored throughout the year along with written reports and the opportunity to attend parent’s evenings.
